Why Choose Coach O's Soccer Camps

There are many camps out there for children, including soccer specific camps.  So how do you choose a camp that is right for your children?  Below I've highlighted a few details that I believe makes this camp the best choice for you!

Safety!

Make sure the camp you sign up for has the safety of your children in mind.  At Coach O's Soccer, we take pride in making sure your kids are well taken care of and safe.

1) Approved by the Department of Health - All camps are supposed to be registered with the local Department of Health in each town.  Many camps hold sessions for shorter periods of time (both in terms of hours or days) to try to get around those rules.  We don't cut corners!  We make sure we comply with all their requirements to help keep your children safe and healthy!

2) Nurses/Trainers - Many camps do not have staff licensed as nurses or trainers due to the high costs to obtain them - instead they just have a staff member certified with First Aid and CPR.  Here we make every effort to have medically trained personnel on site at all times or hire those in college training to become nurses or athletic trainers.

3) Safe Shelter - Many day sports camps do not have a location to go in the event of inclement weather.  I will only hold a camp at a venue that allows us to move indoors if there is thunder or lightning in the area or excessive heat.  I try to make sure the indoor location is an area we can continue to play, although in some locations it may just be a space where we watch a movie or play board games.  Either way, your children will be in a safe place and you will not need to come pick them up!

Convenience!

Coach O's Soccer Camps are designed to be convenient for families! Many camps require you to rearrange your work schedule or figure out a car pool option in order for your children to attend. We run a camp with hours equivalent to a school day! If you need a later pick up option - arrangements can be made with either Director Jimmy Odierna or respective Assistant Director.

You'll notice some other camps only run 3 day clinics (typically to avoid meeting the Board of Health requirements) or 4 days. We run a full 5 days of camp so you're not left wondering what to do with your kids on the 5th day.

Professionalism and Personalization!

At Coach O's Soccer Camps the director and owner Jimmy Odierna is at the camp and is working with your kids! Along with Assistant Directors Aaron, Becky and Neil (all who are teachers, youth soccer coaches and have been with Coach O for ages!), we work very hard to learn everybody's names as quickly as possible. We create all of the curriculum, set up all of the activities, and train the staff on their duties for each part of every day. You can be confident that we will be overseeing the coaches that are working with your kids as well as stepping in to work with the campers ourselves throughout each day! If something doesn't seem to be going well, we step in and make adjustments so that your child's needs are met.

Their expertise provides a unique opportunity to have highly experienced camp organizers, coaches, and teachers overseeing the entire camp and onsite at all times. We also have an operations manager who works at the camp during the camp weeks to help handle the large number of campers. This person helps facilitate the day to day administrative tasks to make everything run smoother, to enhance your interactions with staff members, and allow the coaches to be more hands on with their assigned roles, and the directors to be more available to talk with parents and work with the children.

Many other camps have been set up more like a factory, with multiple locations each week. Do you know who is in charge and overseeing the staff at each location? Is the staff prepped each day? Is the owner/director involved or somewhere else?

Value!

It is important that you are getting the most value for your money. Not only do I believe we have one of the best run camps around, but we also have one of the lowest "per hour" prices you will find. In order to provide an ideal ratio of campers to counselors that is under 8:1, on site medically trained personnel, a safe indoor place to go as needed, and well compensated and trained coaches who are eager to work with your kids - there are a lot of expenses. Even with those expenses and reassurances, we try to keep the cost to you as reasonable as possible. At $400, the cost is $80 a day for a ~7 hour day ($12 per hour).  The half day rate comes out to $50 a day ($14 per hour). Check to see what that rate is at other camps (look for the price, the number of days, AND the number of hours) - you'll find we are one of the lowest rates per hour!
